Description:

This paper asserts that even though the movie, "X-Men Origins-Wolverine", was a big box office hit, Marvel fans were actually outraged by the film. The paper then goes on to support this assertion by comparing the film to the Marvel comics "Wolverine: Origin" upon which the film is based. The paper contends that the differences between the film and the original comics version are drastic and that fans were angered that the film did not stay even remotely faithful to the original comic books. This contention is supported with examples from the movie.

From the Paper:

"One of the biggest blunders of the film adaptation is that somewhere between the bookshelf and the film studio, the character Stryker turns from religious preacher to military commander who went A-wall. The film shows Stryker as the leader of Team X, which changes the character completely from his original depiction. In the original story, Stryker preaches that mutants are "an affront to god" (Jesse Schedeen). That does not sound like a guy who wants to create his own mutant soldier. Stryker's ultimate goal throughout the comics was to rid the world of all mutants. The fact that the movie focuses on Stryker's yearning for the ultimate mutant creation in Weapon XI is an alarming alteration to the original story. "
