Description:

This paper compares and contrasts the teachings and beliefs of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It looks at how both Islam and Christianity were born of the Judaist teachings and beliefs and so share similar ideas regarding creation, God, etc. By defining the basics of each religion and showing how they contrast or agree, it is hoped a better understanding of the three and their place in the world can be achieved.

From the Paper:

"The history of Judaism predates the period to which the term itself actually refers, in that Judaism formally applies to the post-Second Temple period, while its antecedents are to be found in the biblical "religion of Israel." Judaism is the parent belief from which both Christianity and Islam were born. Judaism is a monotheistic religion; the Jewish faith believes in and worships a single God. Scholars believe that the monotheistic belief was the culmination of a process that started with the belief in polytheism. The polytheistic belief evolved into a belief in the worship of one god without denying the existence of other gods, (henotheism). Finally, the belief in a single, all powerful being emerged."
