"In order to fully understand the effects of media, the term must be defined. The definition of media may be identified as the primary medium utilized for mass communication. (Dominick) Media includes various mediums. Television may be identified as one of the primary forms of media. Books, magazines, newspapers, radio, video games, and the internet are also forms of media. (Sparks) One of the fastest growing forms of media is social media. This includes websites such as Facebook, Youtube, Wikipedia, and Twitter. (Dominick)"The media has produced numerous effects regarding the learning ability of society. Television, for instance, has become a form of media that is utilized to teach. The television show, Sesame Street, provides an exemplification of this. Toddlers are taught simple arithmetic, alphabets, and racial harmony through Sesame Street. (Croteau, David, Hoynes, and Milan) Sesame Street is one of the few television shows that produce a positive effect on learning. Most television shows have an adverse effect on learning abilities. Studies show that 2 hours of television produced negative academic performance in school children. (Sparks)"
