From the Paper:

"The most often mentioned causes of teenage pregnancy are insecurity and low self esteem. However, there are many factors involved such as socioeconomic status. One crucial point is that teenage pregnancy does not involve teenagers having sex with other teenagers. That is, in fact, the most important consideration in terms of possible solutions. The approach needed when working with the young teen who becomes pregnant is one of advocacy and support since she is actually a victim of exploitation. At the same time, the fathers also need support since research demonstrates that adverse childhood experiences are related to their involvement in teen pregnancy. This paper will investigate the problem of teenage pregnancy as a local, national, and global issue. The only valid approach to teenage pregnancy is a holistic one because systemic and structural social factors contribute to the problem, along with factors found at the level of the individual and family."
