Description:

This paper presents a case involving a caravan park in an upland region of the UK that is served by its own private water supply. According to the paper, the water supply comes from an upland surface catchment area that contains substantial peat deposits and that is used primarily for sheep and cattle grazing, which might raise some questions about the healthfulness of the water. The paper further describes how the water is collected and how it is conducted approximately by glazed earthenware pipes from a crudely constructed collection chamber to a designed storage tank at the caravan park site.

From the Paper:

"This case concerns a caravan park in an upland pennine region that is served by its own private water supply. The water supply comes from an upland surface catchment area that contains substantial peat deposits and that is used primarily for sheep and cattle grazing, which might raise some questions about the healthfulness of the water. The water is collected from naturally occurring springs and is then conducted approximately 600 yards by glazed earthenware pipes from a crudely constructed collection chamber to a designed storage tank at the caravan park site. The water is used as received and is not treated in any way"
