A small loss in profit would be nothing compared to federal charges being filed due to tax evasion, falsified accounting, etc. The more likely situation that Ford executives will be faced with is: when will we decide to go completely green? The companies that go completely green in the near future will likely suffer a short term loss, mainly due to the massive costs associated with switching technology from oil dependency. However, those companies that take the faithful first leap will likely be rewarded in the long term from increased profits, a larger market, and more experience with the direction that the world is heading. If Ford desires to be at the forefront of the automobile industry, it is clear that a dedicated focus on renewable and clean fuel sources would be the most beneficial decision."
