This paper provides an overview of the Denver-based Colorado Pattern Co. Inc. and identifies the problems facing the company. The paper lists the objectives of a potential e-commerce solution and then details a practical Internet strategy that will achieve the company's aims of improving its prestige and increasing its client base.

From the Paper:

"The Colorado Pattern started in the mid 1960s, a time when technology was on the rise. However, the company adhered to its tradition of artistic line of work through pattern making and molding. Skilled craftsmen form the panel of its assembly line workers. The company's service is to create blueprints through the use of tools and pattern making machines that replicate exact design and wood products. Set standards are maintained within the company line of products where the crafts of softer woods like sugar pines and hardwood are all used to produce customized designs for their clients. Honduras mahogany wood is used for high volume patterns that could be repeated. There is less diversification in the raw material except for the occasional aluminum patterns for high volume use.
"Production process entails the pattern maker to create shapes out for the wood pieces with table saws, lathes, mills and sanders. Additional machinery is also used to shape the patterns. Then the pattern maker carefully sands and files the shape with hand tools. Molten metal is then poured into the foundry to create a mold that would finish the prototype design."
