Description:
The paper looks at how George Hoberg's, "The Politics of Sustainability: Forest Policy in British Columbia," is an introduction to the evolution of forest policy in British Columbia because it gives the reader an overview of the progression in BC from an industry-driven policy to an inclusive one. The paper discusses how it gives an excellent overview of the in-fighting that characterized efforts in the 1990s to change British Columbia's forestry policies from ad hoc and minister-directed to collaborative, comprehensive, and inclusive - a new process in which the traditional way of managing public lands (the old tenure system) was replaced by multilateral consultation and even co-management.
