This paper summarizes three excellent short articles, specifically, Nicholas N. Eberstadt's historical analysis of the evolution of corporate responsibility and how the contemporary view that corporations have few obligations except to make money is not really one founded in historical truth. The paper then summarizes Harris' argument that understanding the positions of others is the best way to avoid discord and violence. Lastly, the paper looks at the work which addresses precisely what integrity is - at least within the business context - and why it is that promise-making and promise-keeping are morally substantial things demanding a strong commitment on the part of those who promise things to others.
