The paper explores the lower rates of obesity in Japan and shows how we must investigate the underlying factors that relate to the culture and lifestyle of Americans when addressing the issue of obesity. The paper emphasizes the importance of primary level prevention and concludes that the "Healthy People 2010" goals can be attained by committing not only individuals, but also community and media entities to the promotion of a healthier lifestyle.
