This paper explores the advantages and disadvantages of moving into a globalized economy. The paper describes the benefits and opportunities globalization offers developing nations. The disadvantages of globalization are seen in a lack of understanding cultural and legal differences between countries. Despite these obstacles, the paper views a globalized economy as a reality, and argues that the US and other nations accept the international accounting standard or risk losing trade partners.
From the Paper:"Today we live in what is called a "global economy". In order to succeed as a country, we must involve ourselves and educate ourselves in foreign affairs. This extends into the business world as well. In order for a manager to be successful, it is crucial that he/she keeps up with the trends and business practices of other countries. Chapter 1 of the International Business text book gives a brief overview of international business- what it is, why it is important, and what the current debate is both in favor and against it, a topic that has been in the news lately as the United States debates over whether or not they want to make the transition to a globalized accounting system."
