From the Paper:

Globalization, specifically outsourcing to countries like India, may initially be beneficial to the economy. However, in light of the recent economic downturn, it is obvious that outsourcing has had some far reaching consequences on the US economy. Genpact is a company that provides services from India, and is a perfect example of outsourcing and globalization. Initially, when GE (now Genworth) outsourced to India, they benefited from tax breaks and increased revenue from outsourcing services to India. Then, as the economy began its recent recession, it is clear the US could have benefited from these outsourced jobs and the taxes they would have generated.

Introduction

Globalization has become a huge factor in today's economic realm. "In the economic realm, globalization refers to the development of an increasingly integrated commercial system based on free markets in which nations are open to foreign trade and investment" (Steiner Steiner, 2006, p. 32). Outsourcing then is a part of globalization.
