"Americans during the colonial period of British origin may have found more of an opportunity to succeed in America than in their motherland, but the domestic structure in America could hardly be termed as democratic. The transplantation to America of the social habits of the upper class Englishmen, the agrarian system of land distribution and the obvious social hierarchy in the Americas were characteristics of a principally authoritarian society.
