"William Henry Gates III is known as one of the world's top billionaires according to Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/profile/bill-gates). He is also known as the number one "Richest American" in Forbes 400. Gates' huge success was achieved from his leadership traits, styles, and powers as the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Microsoft Corporation, one of the leading providers for personal computers. In addition, his leadership as an entrepreneur and philanthropist has gained him respect in the business world.
"Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington to a family of entrepreneurs (Bellis, 2010). His father, William H. Gates II, was a Seattle attorney and his late mother, Mary Gates, was a schoolteacher, University of Washington regent, and chairwoman of United Way International. The family spirit of entrepreneurship persuaded Bill Gates during his teenage years. When Bill Gates was 13 years old, he developed an interest in software and began programming computers. He partnered with his childhood friend, Paul Allen, and ran a small computer company called Traf-O-Data. Traf-O-Data was successful in selling a computer to the city of Seattle that could count traffic. This small business experience furthered Gates' passion for programming during his years at Harvard University where he wrote a version of the programming language BASIC for the MITS Altair microcomputer."
