Description:

This paper discusses the health benefits of drinking wine, especially red wine. It describes the history of wine consumption and briefly looks at some studies that have been performed to evaluate the health benefits of red wine consumption in moderation. The paper concludes that consuming red wine on a daily basis in moderate amounts may help prevent or alleviate an entire range of diseases.

From the Paper:

"In addition to these benefits, there are others that should be mentioned. For example, resveratrol has also been shown to protect against lung cancer which was demonstrated in a 2002 study conducted on 210 men aged 45 to 69. With each glass of red wine consumed per month, the chances of developing lung cancer dropped almost 5% and was even higher in men who smoked on a daily basis. Another study done in 2005 showed that resveratrol reduced the amount of fat in the liver, thus lowering the chances of developing liver cancer, cirrhosis and other disorders associated with the liver ("Resveratrol Health Benefits," Internet). Thus, from the information and data provided by these studies, it is clear that consuming red wine on a daily basis in moderate amounts may help prevent or alleviate an entire range of diseases; it may even be what some refer to as the new "fountain of youth," due to the powerful benefits to human health in the form of resveratrol and other important antioxidants."
