"On April 3, 2008 a coordinated law enforcement raid took place near the small town of Eldorado, Texas, about 150 miles northwest of San Antonio. Since 2003 a 1700-acre tract of ranch land in this town had been home to a branch of the independent Mormon sect known as the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS), a communitarian group which also has settlements in Utah, Arizona, Colorado and British Columbia. An anonymous phone call to Texas Child Protective Services (CPS) a few days prior to the raid had indicated to law enforcement that child abuse may have been taking place in the community.
