This paper analyzes and describes a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, further detailing how aspects of that program are related to the developmental theory. This theory is discussed in Saarni's chapter on emotional competence and self-regulation. The paper also points out that the developmental theory is also attached to Neisser's theory of the Ecological Self. With that out of the way, the next order of business will be to detail of how aspects of that program are related to, or follow, the developmental theory discussed in Saarni's chapter on emotional competence and self-regulation. To be more specific, the developmental theory to which the selected SEL program will be attached is Neisser's theory of the Ecological Self; the selected SEL program will be the Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS)..."
