This paper explains that the thesis of this memoir is that life is formed of a series of experiences an individual faces, which impact his development depending on the ways he wants to address these experiences and the lessons he draws from them. Next, the author relates his scenarios on his becoming a doctor and becoming married, which has been postponed. The paper underscores that an entire college education is an experience in itself that shapes any individual in his development especially since the experiences a person lives through during this period adds to the way his identity can grow in different directions.
From the Paper:"This is what happened with me. The scenario of starting a family, which had initially been decided on my part for late adolescence and, in any case, no later than twenty years old, has now moved closer to the 30-years threshold, with no visible upper restriction. Completing my education has become more of a priority than getting married and starting a family. It is interesting to note how my social clock is also affected by the society in which I live. In the Western society, there is no clear pressure on getting married at an early age and the priorities are different than, perhaps, a developing country, where one would be expected to start a family much earlier.
"Looking at the events that have been analyzed in the previous paragraphs, it is obvious that the development of my personal identity is currently influenced by the pursuit of a successful education, which means that the goals tend to be associated with that. It is also interesting how this marker has affected many of the other scenarios, such as the marriage scenario, which has all been postponed and is now determined by the events on the educational level."
