"This paper will analyze two primary sources one from 1675, The Womens Complaint against Tobacco; and the other from 1712 titled The Virtues and Excellency of the American Tobacco Plant. Both pamphlets deal with tobacco use, which had significantly increased at the time. The analysis of these two primary sources will include what the pamphlets indicate about the view on tobacco at the time. What the motivation was for writing these pamphlets and which of the two may have made a more successful argument, particularly in the light of the times in which they were written.
