This paper reviews an American Psychological Association article which looks at the use of high-stakes testing in educational settings. The paper explores the utility of such testing (as perceived by the article) and also the considerations which should be borne in mind by those devising such evaluations. The paper lauds the article for its even-handed approach to the subject - one which has become quite contentious in recent years - but expresses misgivings about the APA source's reluctance to provide empirical data or to offer a concrete plan of action which might serve those who are in the educational field and who are interested in reducing inequalities and/or inaccuracies in the testing process.
