The paper relates that in the wake of the groundbreaking Dove "Natural Beauty" and "Campaign for Real Beauty" there has been intense interest in the mainstream media regarding the need for the magazines and advertising to recognize that women are not all incredibly svelte, under-25 Caucasian able-bodied beauties. This paper focuses upon an advertisement that reflects the magazine industry's current trend toward broadening its template of feminine beauty. The paper shows, however, how this more "inclusive" image of female beauty remains, ironically, just as exclusive and oppressive as the traditional aesthetic of female beauty.
