In this article, the writer discusses that the use of technology in the classroom depends upon a variety of factors including the teacher, the environment and the classroom. The writer notes that there are conflicting ideas about the value of technology and hence conflicting advice to teachers about how technology should be used in schools. The writer points out that to further complicate the use of technology, is its extremely rapid rate of advancement and change that makes it difficult for teachers to stay current with new developments. The writer maintains that despite these drawbacks, the use of technology in the classroom has been shown to be highly beneficial. The writer concludes that as technology advances, so must its use in education, as it has been proven to be a highly effective learning tool for both teachers and students alike.

"Technology is a tool of high utility in the classroom, with a huge variety of potential roles through which to enhance all subjects of any curriculum. The modern computer is not only a tool as a calculator would be to a mathematician or a dictionary to an aspiring speller, but rather a portal to infinite information. In addition to access to information, the use of technology in education provides an excellent opportunity at communication in integration, both within the classroom, and without. The benefits of technology in the classroom have been well recognized, as throughout the twentieth century there were a number of times in which there was considerable investiture into the improvement of education.
