From the Paper:
"Money, sudden fame, lack of anonymity, lack of trust and loyalty from those around them are some of the possible reasons which might cause famous people to start using drugs with an increased frequency. Depending on the various drugs which they use, one could make some assumptions regarding the causes which lead them in this specific direction. For example, the people who need substances such as amphetamines or cocaine have difficulty in living up to the expectations that society has from them. They feel a very strong social pressure and they need a drug to boost their self confidence and the belief that they can satisfy all the expectations that the others have from them."The people who use drugs such as heroin on the other hand are driven by a different reason, namely the desire to escape from reality. While the former category wished to be better at facing reality, this latter one is interested in escaping. The people belonging to this group are interested in being anesthetized to life, which they perceive as being full of issues that they can not handle.
"There is a third category, which refers to the use of drugs caused by medical conditions."
