In this article, the writer discusses that from the earliest Ragtime and Jazz styles to the modern innovations of Rap and Hip Hop, American music has taken many of these styles and fused them together. The writer maintains that the many innovations provided by the artist in this study reveal how the music took new turns, and why these changes became staples of "popular" music in their differing eras. Certainly, the development of Rock 'n' Roll has been a major part of this study, since it has successfully crossed over to many other earlier forms of Blues and Country. The writer discusses that the latter popularity of Rap and Hip Hop are crucial to contributions of the African-American influence on American music, which is the core element to many American styles that had come earlier.
