Hitler's childhood was rather stress-free, as his father had worked his way up considerably through the Austrian customs service. He worked as a customs guard near the Austrian-German border. Hitler began his schooling in 1900, at the age of 11, and his grades were above average. It was after his first years of schooling that Hitler and his father began to disagree about his future.
