"It was a remarkable experience to meet and interview Victor Doebah, a refugee from Liberia. His story of immigrating to America was compelling and like nothing I've ever heard. It was even more compelling to learn about what he had to endure before even stepping on the plane for America. To hear of such hardships, such suffering was humbling to say the least - especially for someone like me who grew up in America and lived in relative ease. I certainly never had to flee from a bloody civil war and seek refuge in a neighboring country. Victor Doebah is a survivor - someone who escaped drugged-crazed militias and tribal persecution. Victor has suffered tremendously and has scars and other injuries to prove it..."
