From the Paper:

"Some of the characters in the story include the grandmother. The unnamed grandmother believes she is morally superior to others by virtue of the fact that she is a lady and this allows her to freely judge others. She claims that her conscience guides her life like when she tells Bailey that her conscience cannot allow her to take the children where the Misfit was headed. She compares the mothers face to a cabbage as she criticizes her for not going to a place where the children will learn to be "broad". (Beiderwell & Wheeler, 198) She also jumps at the opportunity to identify the lack of goodness in people today. As she does all this she never turns to criticize her own hypocrisy or selfishness. She lives with Bailey's family and when they travel to Florida, she suggests they visit an old house. This however leads to an unfortunate accident that kills everyone in the group. Before dying however, she realizes that the house is actually in Tennessee. Her attempt to reason with the Misfit angers him and she experiences a graceful moment right before being shot by the Misfit. Next is the Misfit. This is a wanted criminal who runs into the family after they crash their car. He lives by a code..."
