Description:

This paper argues that while each war had its unique causes and consequences, the underlying themes in each war are consistent, including: land rights, economic stability, and ideological defense. This paper explores the causes and consequences of each of the three wars in this region.

From the Paper:

"There have been three wars in the Persian Gulf region over the past thirty years. The first Persian Gulf War span from 1980 to 1988 and was between Iran and Iraq (MacArthur). The Second war included conflict between Iraq and Kuwait, which lead to US and other United Nations participating in a battle between 1990 and 1991 (Dunnigan and Bay). The most recent war started in 2003 with a non-UN sanctioned US led invasion of Iraq (Gordon and Trainor). Although each war has its unique reasons for conflict, the underlying themes are consistent, including: land rights, economic stability, and ideological defense."
