From the Paper:"For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to computers and technology. I enjoy using computers to play games in my free time, and I also enjoy trying to understand how they work (or sometimes don't work). When I think about my future plans and aspirations, I know my career will be in the computer field. After I graduate from high school, I would like to attend a four-year college and get a bachelor's degree in computer science and also a minor in business. Eventually, I would like to return to school to get a master's degree in computer science, but I would like to allow three to four years between the time I graduate from college and return to graduate school. Computer science is very much a hands-on field, and I would like to get a feel how computer science works in the "real world" by taking a job working with computers first. I believe that this will enrich my understanding of masters-level work later.
"Over the past years, computers have gone from taking up whole rooms to being small, portable laptops. Computers are no longer mainly used by the military or the sciences; computers are an essential part of all industries, and the public is more dependent on computers than ever before to complete work and personal tasks. I feel that computer science will be an important field for many years and that I will be able to find a job easily. I am also very excited by new technologies and innovations in computer science, and I would very much like to be a part of these new developments.
"Although I would like to take some time off between receiving my bachelor's and my master's degrees, I think it would be in my best interests to enter college as soon after graduating from high school as possible. I am not yet sure whether I would like to attend school in-state or out-of-state, but I may want to get a head start on my math requirements for my computer science degree the summer before school starts--whether by taking correspondence courses or taking classes at a community college."
