Speech is expression and articulation while language is the system of expressing and receiving information. Grades are a way of measuring book knowledge, but they are not a way of measuring experience, interest and perspective. Problems in the development of speech and language often overlap each other just as grades and abilities overlap. I may be an "A" student but not able to reach parents and children as a successful speech-language pathologist needs to--or, I could have average grades and be able to work..."
