From the Paper:"This essay will evaluate my communication skills and how I built a relationship with the service user. I describe how I set professional boundaries and maintained professionalism throughout. Finally I identify what professional skills I would like to improve on before completing my work experience.
"Throughout the house visit I attempted to use the transactional analysis model (Widdowson, M, 2009). This is a person centred way of working and allows the service user to be in control. The model has three ego states.
"The first ego state is the parent state, which is divided into four sections. One side of the state is nurturing and the other is controlling, both the nurturing and controlling state both have positive and negative segments. The controlling positive section, is when the person is giving advice and being helpful, the negative controlling side is the domineering and controlling side. The nurturing, negative side is patronising and controlling. The positive nurturing side is when the person is giving advice and being helpful.
"The next state is the child state this also has four sections. The first side of this state is the adopted side, the negative side to the adopted state is demanding and selfish. The positive side is selfless, playful and creative. The next side to this state is the free child, the positive side to free child is being impulsive and doing things that make you happy. The negative side to free child is sulking and being whiny. "
