From the Paper:
"The major cause or rather aim for advertising blood donation is to invite more volunteers globally to come out and donate blood. This is following the recent blood shortages experienced over the past decades. This has created some sort of emergency for blood; health institutions have made their top priority to reach out to the community and convince people to donate blood. There have actually been reports stating that over the past years; the number of young people donating blood has drastically reduced, statistically represented by a 20% decline. The report has it that the number of young donors has declined and this has in turn brought about fear of a threatening generation gap with reference to blood donation (Steiner 155). This being the case, the rest of the community thus needs to be persuaded to engage in this purposeful activity. That is the reason behind the very many ongoing advertisements on blood donation."A search for clean blood is yet another leading cause of the campaign. With reference to the American Red Cross website, during the 20th century specifically the 1970s, a lot of blood donated was from individuals who demanded to be paid. During that time, the process of blood donor screening was minimal. This was attributed to the lack of proper and efficient technology; there was a high risk that some blood donations could be infected with diseases such as HIV. Hence owing to this, it was hard to locate blood donors; there was urgent need to find a medical history as well as physical examination of the donor (Fusco 38). This was to make sure that the donation was not in any way threatening to their health or that of another receiving the blood. However even after realizing that blood donation was safe, there was minimal increase in the exercise. Currently, informing the overall population of how technology has helped in blood donations is still a big challenge.
"Another cause of promoting blood donation is to engage with the entire community. This is to help the society prevent and prepare for any natural disasters as well as responding to certain emergency situations. In addition, this move is also focused on giving back to the community and help in saving lives of other people in the community as well. This can be done through voluntary blood donations which in turn will make possible medical treatments and procedures involving blood transfusions."
