Marketing triggers the use of different strategies through communications, sales and business development to promote these products and services. Marketing is an important benefit to companies as it develops strong links with customers and increases the value of the products and services as a result. Through market research, the customer's needs are identified and steps are taken to retain customers. Marketing has also been defined as a management process which is responsible for identifying and satisfying the customer's demands. In recent times, many new approaches have been taken to the concept of marketing, including relationship marketing which focuses on the customer, and business marketing which places emphasis on an organization. The latest concept to be adopted in marketing theory is that of internet marketing, which makes use of search engines and online sites to promote products and services.
