AVIATION term papers and essays

Aviation is a term referring to air travel, especially by means of heavier than air vehicles. Though many attempts at conquering the air have been made as early as the 4th to 5th centuries B.C., modern aviation began with the successful, repeatable flights made by William and Orville Wright in 1911. From there, the industry boomed, especially with the demand for airplanes during World War I. After the war, airplanes were found useful for airmail and other transport of goods as well as private and commercial airline travel. As more air traffic hit the skies the need became apparent for radar, air traffic control and aviation weather monitoring. Developments were made in satellite communication as well, as technology progressed. Developments in actual air travel continued to progress as the United States government poured in capital for military and space research. Eventually, an aircraft that could travel to space and return safely in order to be used again was invented - the Space Shuttle. Aviation jobs include piloting aircraft. Pilots may be employed in the military, for commercial airlines, for delivering mail, and for private planes. Non-piloting aviation jobs include air traffic control, engineering and building of aircraft, flight scheduling and many other jobs within airports.
