ANXIETY term papers and essays

Anxiety is a general disorder which causes fear, apprehension, worrying and nervousness in the patient. Anxiety has the ability to affect a person's behavior and even transform into physical symptoms. There are many degrees of anxiety, ranging from feeling vaguely unsettled to severe anxiety attacks which could seriously impact the patient on a day to day level. While it is quite normal for everyone to feel anxious now and then, anxiety disorders affect the patient's ability to do normal day-to-day things such as eat and sleep. Forms of anxiety include General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) where the patient has long lasting feelings of anxiety over non specific things, Panic Disorder which results in sudden, intense feelings of panic which leads to physical symptoms such as shortness of breath and dizziness, Phobias which lead to an irrational fear of something specific, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder which leads to repetitive actions due to compulsions and irrational fear. Stress and anxiety are intricately linked and many sufferers of anxiety disorders know that stress is a likely trigger for their symptoms. Anxiety can be treated across a number of boards, including through counseling, and, in some cases, with medication.
