"New York Presbyterian (NYP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) academic medical center, with a vision to become "among the top academic medical centers in the nation" in clinical and service "excellence" along with patient safety, education and research. In its "Community Service Plan" NYP emphasizes "Quality and Safety" (by implementing National Safety Goals); "People Development" (employees are "engaged and empowered"); "Advancing Care" (using digital technology to share patient information with care providers and providing "patient-friendly" facilities); "Financial and Operational Strength" (by managing operations "efficiently" NYP and exceeding financial targets NYP is very solvent and able to grow); "Partnerships" (by collaborating with Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and other institutions); and "Serving the Community" is also a big part of the Mission Statement of NYP.
"Community Services: NYP has an asthma program (free to families) called "Washington Heights-Inwood Network" (WIN) in which asthma-related education and support is provided, reducing hospitalizations for asthma-related illnesses by 85%. NYP's Westchester branch offers free lectures to the public on "diverse emotional wellness topics" like: a) coping with depression, anxiety, stress and anger management; b) behavioral issues and parenting issues; c) eating disorders, alcoholism and depression; d) free cancer screening (breast, cervical, oral, skin, lung, prostate and colorectal)."
