Abstract
The Secret is the title of a 2006 book and film which purport to reveal to the general public what had been until then a hidden fact of reality which, they claim, can be of huge benefit to anyone who learns how to properly master it. In this paper we will briefly analyze this claim and evaluate it based upon three separate but interrelated frameworks of reference: a purely scientific/logical framework, a Christian framework (but emphasizing ethics rather than theology), and an integral framework based upon Ken Wilber's holistic paradigm. In each case we will find The Secret lacking in some respect.

Abstract
The paper discusses how Jean Baudrillard's first order simulation applies to Joseph Conrad's short story "The Secret Sharer".
From the Paper
"Joseph Conrad's "The Secret Sharer" presents a case of first order of simulation as described by Jean Baudrillard. This appears in the relationship that develops between the narrator and a man named Leggatt who is rescued by the narrator hidden in the narrator's cabin on the ship he captains and ultimately set ashore on an island where Leggatt can be free from the pursuit of the captain of the ship on which Leggatt had killed a man. Abstract
An exploration of theme in Susan Griffin's "Our Secret".
From the Paper
"In her unusual and imaginative essay "Our Secret", Susan Griffin weaves together several seemingly unrelated threads. She juxtaposes sentences and short paragraphs describing the creation of a biological cell, the creation of missiles and in essence, the creation and biography of Heinrich Himmler. Throughout her essay, Griffin vacillates between several narration styles, switching from first person to third person in order to weave an intricate web of emotion and personal experience. But why does Griffin do this? She writes; "The nucleus of...""

From the Paper
"Everyone rewrites history to some extent; some of us are just better at it than others. In Thurber's short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", Mitty goes beyond the common habit of embellishing the truth, he creates a completely different reality for himself in his imagination. While he is on an errand for his wife, he imagines himself as a hero in several different scenarios. Each of these imagined experiences is humorous for several reasons. First, it is a completely..."

Abstract
The following essay deals with the issues of woman sexuality as portrayed in "Possessing the Secret of Joy." It compares the notion of possession in the Western culture as a romantic notion, to the subject of Walker's book, that of genital mutilation to the African woman. The author also touches on the similarities in themes between "The Color Purple" and this novel, focusing specifically on the African Woman and the discrimination she is subjected to.
From the paper:
"Female genital mutilation is a complex issue, not a simple issue of men victimizing women as it is often portrayed. It is a product of a particular cultural context. Walker makes this clear in the way that she unfolds her narrative. She does not only present things from Tashi's perspective. She also presents things from the perspective of those who lover her. At the time Tashi's story takes place in the present, Tashi is married to a man named Adam. Of course, what has been done to his wife affects him. This is most clear, not to put to fine a point on it, in terms of their sexual relationship."

Abstract
The paper examines how knowledge about public hazard is kept secret from the public through the use of secrecy agreements in the courts and how companies often know about deadly defects in their products, yet, they keep the information out of the public eye through secret settlements. This essay analyzes the concept of the secret settlement policy, where companies calculate what is called a cost-benefit-ratio. If the company believes it will be less expensive to settle a claim against it than to recall a product or clean up a hazardous area then the company decides to settle. It discusses the legal aspects of these settlements as well as there pros and cons though literature review and outlines the current laws.
From the Paper
"There have been many pros and cons suggested as to why the legislature should or should not adopt these new secrecy bills (caoc.com). Opponents of this legislation state that there is no evidence that the current practice creates any significant problems in concealing information about dangerous products or conditions (caoc.com). Many feel that the new legislation is a threat to high tech firms because the new legislature forces companies to divulge trade secrets (caoc.com). They fear companies will no longer be able to protect trade secrets (caoc.com). However proponents for the new legislature argue that it is designed to restrict secret settlements, not to divulge trade secrets (caoc.com)."

Abstract
This paper explains that, since its beginning, the lingerie Victoria's Secret company, has used sex and sexuality as a major selling point. Their collections, such as "Victoria's Secret Pink" with it bright colors and slogans on the underwear and the clothing line, the author points out, are aimed towards a younger market, which is a huge part of the the company's business model. The paper describes Victoria's Secrets' pricing, credit card, magazine, billboard, television print advertisement and product placement strategies.
From the Paper
"Victoria's Secret offers a credit card known as the "Angel" card, which is presented to the customer at every check out in the store. This card advertises and pushes for more return customer based sales. The "Angel" card campaign offers a variety of "benefits'' such as a point system which gives you a point for every dollar you spend on your "Angel" card. After a certain number of points have been gathered the company sends you a $10 gift card. The company also promotes the usage of their card by offering coupons through the mail and email, which give a percentage off of their next purchase."

From the Paper
"The key strength of Victoria's Secret is brand recognition and brand loyalty. It's massive advertising campaigns have been largely successful due to the brand equity of the product. Victoria's Secret products make their customers feel sexy and good about themselves.
The upcoming launch of the new swimsuit line will mark the entrance of Victoria's Secret into a new area. It has had great success with the launch of its bra lines and was a leader in the introduction of thong underwear. Thong underwear was a risky product line, especially considering more conservative customers. However, sales have increased every year since its introduction. The key to this success was due to the already established customer loyalty. "
