Gillen lists the following strengths as being of primary importance to the competitive profile of the new Air Canada: reduced capacity, increased load factors, yield increases, increased traffic, reduced costs of $2 billion, refocused on long-haul routes, and strategic formation of domestic carriers in the low-fare market (3). Essentially, Air Canada's greatest strength lies in its very size which ensures it can take advantage of market strategies that smaller carriers cannot such as leveraging its order sizes to achieve better prices and margins with its suppliers."
