Paper Summary:
This paper applies various psychological theories to "Lauris Edmond's Autobiography". Using the various theories of development, then, this paper presents a conceptual picture of Lauris Edmond, the poet, and her life influences.
From the Paper:
"According to this aspect, presented by Bronfenbrenner, we can clearly see the impact that each of these environmental levels had upon Lauris Edmond throughout her life. In the beginning it was her family who motivated her to display her indications towards being a good writer and poet and this is an apt example of how she was influenced by the Microsystems. The Mesosystem no doubt represented by the interaction between her parents and the schoolteachers and also the general perspective of the society, as a whole did not play a significantly crucial role in shaping her views and characteristics. The Exosystem too, did not particularly seem to affect or influence her, whereas the Macrosystem drastically influenced her perspective. The Macrosystem of the times, that is the culture, was apparently unconsciously liable to promote strong male chauvinistic views. It was actually the Macrosystem that ultimately led to Edmond's feeling of suppression and discontent that they were apparently using her. By them she depicted not only her husband or her children but society as a whole. Little did she know that this very same concept of hers would later, in the near future, come to be known as the Females Liberation or lib. She was astounded to later read accounts and opinions of women all over the world, upon whose source of discontent she had so unconsciously tapped into whilst exploring the depth of her own such feelings."
