"Liberalism and socialism both have a scientific element in the way they observe events and derive concepts from those events to apply to future events of a similar nature. Both offer a predictive element that has a scientific basis. Liberalism is clearly a product of the Enlightenment and follows the beginnings of political science as elucidated by Locke and Hobbes, while socialism has a scientific element most evident in the particular socialist forms of Marx and Engels."
