This paper explains that, in his article "Slaughter of the Innocent", Hans Ruesch argues that animals are tortured excessively during research tests in laboratories. The author states that Ruesch portrays animal experimentation as being cruel, useless and unnecessary, as if scientists perform animal research to watch animals suffer. The paper argues that animal research should be looked upon as educational and greatly appreciated because, if it were not for animal research, human beings would not know about many things especially medicines and surgical approaches.

"Last, Ruesch (2003) educates his readers on a vivisection and attacks vivisectors. According to the Encarta Dictionary, a vivisection is the practice of operating on living animals in order to gain knowledge of pathological or physiological process. Ruesch (2003) attacks the vivisectors, someone who performs the experiment, by saying "many more take up "research" because that requires no formal studying. Any dunce can cut up live animals and report what he sees." He goes on to say that vivisectors "indignantly reject charges that their driving motive is avarice, ambition, or sadism disguised as scientific curiosity" (p. 366). Ruesch makes it clear to his audience that he is against this subject and the people that continue it by making these strong attacks."
