This is not always possible to do, but it is one of the ways that businesses can keep consumers coming back (Jackson, Cunningham, & Cunningham, 1988). Another way is to offer discounts to a customer that has shown loyalty to the business so that the customer will remain there instead of going to someone else (Jackson, Cunningham, & Cunningham, 1988). Many people believe that customer service is the answer to all of the customer retention issues (Jackson, Cunningham, & Cunningham, 1988). While it is very true that customer retention is very important and excellent service helps to keep individuals coming back to a business, the market is too competitive to assume that this will work all of the time (Jackson, Cunningham, & Cunningham, 1988)."
