Smaller players are faced with the threat of elimination if they do not keep up with the rapid changes of time and tap into the resources of the new knowledge based economies . Financial services must be price competitive in the face of fierce rivalry for funds, while maintaining the institutions? investment interests. The industry is tapping economies of scale by using more automated ways of processing mortgages and credit transfer in bulk."
