He walked out of his office as president of his own manufacturing company in Ohio, not only giving up a dream of becoming rich in American business, but also abandoning his responsibilities as a husband and a father. He gave up business for literature. Winesburg, Ohio and The Egg and Other Stories are good examples of how he incorporated his own dramatic life experiences into his writing. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was a successful doctor, and found that his amateur etching helped discipline his hand for surgery. Haden continued with his hobby until it helped him to become one of the best landscape etchers of all time. Realism is the attempt, in literature and art, to depict life as it actually exists. Sherwood Anderson and Sir Francis Seymour Haden use themes of solitude, self-reflection, and nature to portray realism. "
