"In the United States more than any other country, a number of people are trained for mental and emotional help. Psychologists, counselors, and social workers are among those whom society depends upon for help concerning psychological and mental disorders (Tomlinson, S. M., & Gwendolyn, E. H. 1991). The United States is perhaps the most culturally diverse country in the world. There are about thirty million African Americans in the United States; 47 percent are male, and 53 percent are female. Black Americans at present compose about 12 percent of the population. Of the total African American population, 60 percent exist in urban areas, and an inclination toward moving north and east has inverted so that more and more Blacks exist in southern states. (Wakefield, J. A. 1999)."
