This paper deals with the philosophical question of whether we have freedom to choose our actions or if all of our actions are predetermined. Views from different philosophers and thinkers are presented in order to reach a conclusion concerning this dilemma.

"The concept of freedom is an ambiguous concept, which has many connotations and has been defined in many ways, and the different interpretations made of this concept, can themselves cause further dilemmas as to whether such a thing exists. One interpretation of freedom is the idea that our decisions or actions are our own responsibility as we have chosen to take them. This means that we have taken these actions using our own free will, which means that we have had the power to detach ourselves from internal and antecedent motivations, and have chosen one of several different alternatives. In other words a person's act is considered free, if he has chosen to do it when he could easily have done otherwise. However different doctorates about freedom and its existence, each come up with different definitions of what this freedom exactly is, and therefore this concept will be more deeply analysed in the context of the different arguments, which will be discussed for and against its existence."
