The paper also discusses the growing concern with internet security and what is being done to combat this.

"So far, e-security hasn?t been too much of an issue, with e-commerce software having the technical support and resources to keep abreast of hacker technology. Microsoft recently debuted its MSN 8 Explorer that includes increased security controls. Neverthless, companies will have to work faster. A recent study showed administrators still not patching systems frequently enough (Lemos, 2002). What this means is, essentially, if the hole isn?t patched, e-commerce will not reach the levels it is capable of attaining. Human resources will find themselves hiring more IT personnel, and Customer Service could end up being run on a small scale. This isn?t too much of a situation, as long as customers are satisfied with the product, and that isn?t going to be helped by technological advances in commerce, but with good old- fashioned care and quality control.
