In this article, the writer notes that deeply rooted perceptions of a group of individuals based solely on race, color, or nationality still are ingrained in many people all over the world. The writer discusses that racism has been tempered down much in recent years and while blatant displays of racism are less frequent then they were in previous time periods or cultures, they still exist. The writer notes that most of the problems with racial segregation stem from opportunity and cycles which seem impossible to break. In order to do so, the writer maintains that there is a strong need to a more diverse government that tends to the needs of every constituent and calls for more regional collaboration between affluent and at risk suburbs along with the center city. The writer concludes that this inequality is the divide which seems insurmountable, but must be overcome in order for the gap to eventually decrease.

From the Paper:

"This problem of education does not stop after one generation. It continues in a cycle that almost seems unbreakable in its current state. The cycle is caused by the lack of education and it fuels the effects felt by future generations who suffer from the same lack of opportunity. The inability to break the cycle therefore stems from the unwillingness and inability for change to occur in the educational system. While the American government may in some cases subsidize, fund, or try to help in other ways, obviously not enough has changed to make a significant difference. This apparent disinterest in the poor regions of cities and suburbs often is a tense issue because it becomes a racial issue when so many of the inhabitants are of a certain minority. Education is a very political issue and the lack of educational opportunities in less affluent areas is an area of concern. So much of a region's well being is supported by the education system in place that areas with poor school systems tend to lose population, business, and taxable income. This only continues the cycle of decline and is a situation that governments must try and figure out how to combat."
