"There are currently no other such parcel delivery companies operating in China which possess the relationship with the Chinese government and the consent of international trade organizations that allow for the freedom of operation afforded DHL. At present, "DHL is the first international forwarder to obtain the CATA (China Air Transport Association) domestic airfreight license, allowing them to operate within 17 Chinese cities." (DHL International, 1) This means that the flexibility afforded our organization can currently not be paralleled by any other American firm. As such, the impetus is on expediency. The more effectively DHL becomes entrenched in the business structure and shared networks of domestic China, the more assured it will be of a long-term competitive advantage in this venue, even as other carriers follow suit onto the Chinese mainland."
