From the Paper "Globalization can be seen both as a historical project and as a process that affects social relations of peoples, groups and states.(Bello, 1998) It is conceived as a historical conjuncture of the modernist project (McMichael 1996) that promotes the ideological framework of neoliberalism (Kinvall 2002: 5-6). The principles of free market economics constitute the policy package called the Washington Consensus - trade liberalization, financial deregulation, privatization, and inflation and currency exchange stability policies - which became the cornerstone of structural adjustment policies (SAPs) implemented in many economies. While Latin America and Africa have severely suffered from neoliberal globalization, Asia stands as an exceptional case of successful integration in the global economy (Dittmer 2002). Asia Pacific projected itself to the world as the most dynamic region characterized by growth with equity: rapid and sustained economic growth, equitable distribution of incomes, and dramatic improvements in human welfare (Rigg 2003: Table 1.3: 10; World Bank 1993)."

Threats to the safety of our employees can come from disasters such as fires, which would force the evacuation of our building. In order to prepare for such a situation, the entire office building (including the companies in the seventeen floors that our company does not occupy) has a fire drill on a regular basis, preceded by a fire safety program that is hosted by building safety experts. During the drill, everyone in the company must respond to the fire alarms by descending down the stairs and assembling in a previously specified "safe spot" for a head count. A few people from each floor are designated as monitors in the case of an emergency, and these employees make sure everyone evacuates safely before leaving the building themselves. Employees usually gripe about these fire drills being troublesome and taking too much time out of their workday, but it is absolutely necessary that everyone know what to do in case of an emergency so that if a fire really does threaten our safety, panic can be kept to a minimum, thus increasing the chance that everyone will get out of the building unharmed. In this case, safety concerns very clearly outweigh the minor inconvenience that employees face."

Abstract This paper examines not only the data protection instruments but also encompasses various breaches, recognitions and provisions for the interests of national security that over-weighs/surpass dangers to individual privacy in information technology. Chapter 2 deals with the erosion of privacy rights due to Sept 11, and amounts to probably the most significant issue in recent history, as information privacy rights have been recognized for controlling the dissemination and use of data. Chapter 3 has a comprehensive analysis that everyone has the right to be protected under the law and no one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home, or correspondence. Chapter 4 studies means of private communications without the consent of the sender or receiver and deals with breaches of privacy. Chapter 5 reviews data protection instruments in EU and non-EU horizons. Chapter 6 elucidates shocking revelations against terror and a flurry of virus activity resulting in personal data of Arab males being made available to the police to protect data against the war on terrorism. Chapter 7 states the balance between privacy and security risks and suggests that privacy-invasive measures adopted have not been as effective in enhancing security as originally intended. Hence they should not be construed as rivals but rather two sides of the same coin. In Chapter 8, systematic surveillance of the citizen in both the physical and virtual worlds after September 11, 2001 is discussed in detail. In Chapter 9, the war on terrorism by the United States and its allies as well as the discussion and measures about the ways in which the world has changed is dealt with. Chapter 10 details the cooperation and mutual assistance in EU-US law enforcement, namely human trafficking, immigration, and refugees, visas, biometrics and passports, etc.

Although interpreted by the courts to be one of our fundamental rights, it is not mentioned by name anywhere in the Constitution or its amendments because it is a passive right. Felt only when absent, it tends to get less attention. This is why it became the first constitutional right in the post-September 11 execution line. Whatever the case, we should all be concerned that what has happened to privacy can also happen to other rights. There is always tension in the system, but it was designed that way, and generally we do a good job of balancing the desires of the state with the liberties of the people."

Abstract Countries have become unsure of their security and about their relationships with the countries that surround them. Since September 11th, a large number of scholars, scientists and political thinkers have started to analyze and provide their own theories on the U.S. and Iraqi war and state relations. One of these groups of political thinkers is the U.S. Commission on National Security of the 21st Century. This Commission discusses and analyzes the problems in the world, specifically concerning the United States and the concerns of the changing world. The Commission has strove to provide critical theories and interpretations of what the United States should do in response to the changing world security environment. This essay addresses the Commission's response, as well as the response provided by President George W. Bush's administration of national security strategy by comparing both documents and noting the merits and criticisms of them. A final wrap-up summary is also provided.

Abstract The paper argues that although the term national security, as a Cold War construct, is new, the application of power abroad, as needed by the state, is recorded even in Biblical times.
